Flats Banned from the Cannes Film Festival?: No Cannes Do

Flats Banned from Cannes Film Festival?

The fashion at the Cannes Film Festival always gets a lot of coverage, but today, it’s not because everyone’s favorite it girl looks gorgeous in a gown…it’s because this year’s event has apparently banned women from wearing flats. Personally, that just tells me that I belong in Cannes right now. I never wear flats – not even on the treadmill (you can find running shoes with some height to them if you really want to!). My feet are highly arched, so if I’m not getting the support of a good pair of heels, they feel sore by the end of the day. That said, it is a women’s right to choose. This story reminds me of the no-heel-higher-than-two-inches in Carmel, California rule. It’s ridiculous! I may hate flats, but they’re as stylish as heels; Kelly picked out some beautiful ones just last week. Since festival director Thierry Fremaux has claimed that no ban is being enforced at Cannes (and with all the backlash it’s received, such a crazy rule would have to be tossed out at this point, anyway), I guess we can walk in whatever we want for today. Now if only we can only get a hold of some plane tickets to France…

Tamara Mellon’s Spring 2016 Collection Is Everything You Want and More

Designer Shoes

Tamara Mellon Spring 2016_4

Tamara Mellon has a few tricks up her sleeve for Spring 2016, and out of all the runway collections I’ve seen vso far, it’s Mellon’s shoes that I can actually see myself wearing. This collection is one that’s luxe in every sense without sacrificing functionality, a specialty of Mellon’s.

For spring, Mellon references a laid-back bohemian aesthetic, in keeping with the major 70s trend happening right now. Bold hues, tribal patterns and leopard details dress up many of Mellon’s signature silhouettes. The real standout in Mellon’s collection, however, are the luscious suede mid-calf and over-the-knee sandals. We’ve seen an uptick in over-the-knee sandals this summer, and it looks like Mellon isn’t ready to let go just yet.

Solange Knowles Wears Schutz Shoes on the Red Carpet in Australia

Designer Shoes

Solange Knowles recently attended the launch of H&M’s new flagship store in Sydney, Australia in a strappy pair of black nubuck leather Schutz Juliana Caged Sandals. You can currently find her shoes for a mere $190. That’s not quite an H&M level of affordability, but when compared to the price points of similar designer sandal styles, it’s pretty inexpensive.

It seems that Solange might’ve been flown to Sydney exclusively for this promotional gig, which means her celeb stock is higher than one might expect outside of the US. Solange didn’t just make a red carpet appearance, however; she also DJed for an enthusiastic crowd of over 1,000 Aussies while select VIPs got a first look at the new store.

Yves Saint Laurent Maryna 105 Pump: Bright Blooms for Spring

Designer Shoes

Everything’s coming up florals for Spring! And we’re certainly not complaining. Images of dainty little ol’ ladies used to come to mind when one mentioned floral shoes, but that couldn’t be further from the truth here. Yves Saint Laurent’s Maryna in floral canvas is anything but old or dainty. A bold, red poppy pattern spices things up while a chunky wood wedge heel gives the flowery shoe a solid does of cool. Seems like the perfect pairing for a warm, sunny day, no?

Designer Shoes

Here’s Elisabeth Moss, attending the premiere of her new movie High-Rise at the BFI London Film Festival. She’s wearing a gorgeous iridescent silver leather pair of Casadei Blade Pumps. You can find a gold iridescent leather version of Elizabeth’s pumps for $750

High-Rise is a dystopian thriller based on J.G. Ballard’s novel of the same name, and it also stars “IT” Brits Tom Hiddleston and Sienna Miller. No US release date has been set for this British film as of yet, but we can probably expect it to hit theaters sometime in 2016.
